Mythos Reopens
Belly dancers and lovers of Greek cuisine can finally relax. The best place to take in both has finally reopened.

Mythos, located on 39340 10th Street West 10th Street West in the Palmdale Marketplace, has built a loyal following by serving authentic and delicious Greek dishes in a cozy, family atmosphere. They found another niche when they added occasional belly dancing shows. All of that was lost for the last two months but, after a major remodeling, the restaurant is back in business.

For now, owner Adam Gad has brought back his entire menu intact. Mythos serves a variety of Greek and Mediterranean appetizers, including hummus, spanakopita, and taramosalata. Entrees, priced from $7 to $15, include various kebabs, as well as falafel, moussaka, kotoblo, and a variety of other traditional Greek and Mediterranean dishes. Soups and salads are also offered.

With the remodel behind him, Gad says some additional changes are coming.

“We’ll be adding some new items in the coming months,” said Gad. “We’ll be adding steak, and pizza, and some items for kids, like chicken strips.” Gad said that they will also add Wednesday night special vegetarian plate.

The restaurant is also unique in that it is one of the few, if not only, places in the AV that offers belly dancing. Adam’s grand reopening, held last Friday, June 22nd, was highlighted by performances by three of the AV’s best – Akila, Faiza, and Sedona.

Belly dancing performances will be presented on most Friday and Saturday nights for now. “We’ll see what kind of crowd we draw, and go from there.”
Gad was born in Egypt, and moved to Greece when he was 12 years old. Early loves included soccer and cooking. He joined the merchant marines for eight years, and then, in 1978, he relocated to New Orleans. He refined his cooking skills working for several restaurants in New Orleans. He moved to California in 1986, and moved to Palmdale after getting married. In 2000, he finally opened his own restaurant, Elbasha, in Santa Clarita. Tiring of the daily commute, he sold it in 2005, and opened Mythos.
