The powerful Sony HXC-FB80 camera and HXCU-FB80 camera control unit is bringing professionals the ability to shoot for high-quality HD with a “future-proof” direction toward 4K and HDR productions. The HXC series camera systems is based on 3G-SDI platform with 1080/59.94p features. The system fits within the studio environment or live applications. The signal to noise ratio at -60dB with high sensitivity of F13 or F12 at 59,94Hz is praised on the ability to shoot in low light. The 2/3-inch type CMOS Exmor image sensor provides for a 59.94Hz progressive operation using the 3G platform and to capture 1080×1920.
The HXCU-FB80 upscales from 1080p HD to 4K (3840 x 2160) and provides for a 12G-SDI output in addition to a quad-Link 3G-SDI. The firmware for the HD-HDR output which supports Hybrid Log-Gamma will be available next summer 2018. The CCU front panel offers up operation as the RCP remote control and as a Master Setup Unit (MSU) system for mulit-camera applications.
“Since its debut, the HXC series has been adopted worldwide for diverse uses. This new camera system is based on customer input and the added support for up-scaled 4K and HD-HDR production expands the system to a wider range of applications,” says Sony.
The HXC-FB80 has the same choice of configurations as the FB75 series: the HXC-FB80HN (camera body only), HXC-FB80KN (with 2/3” HD Lens, Portable viewfinder and Microphone) and HXC-FB80SN (with 2/3” HD Lens, Large viewfinder). The distance potential from camera head to CCU is up to 600m (approx. 1970 feet) utilizing coax and 10km (33,000ft) by utilizing single mode fiber cable with power supply.
