CODA AiRAY Rig Supports Knicks City Hall Celebration
The New York Knicks championship parade drew roughly two million people into the Canyon of Heroes. Eastern Stage Productions handled the City Hall audio with CODA Audio loudspeakers selected for their phase coherence and compact size. Crews tackling one-day civic events quickly see how array decisions affect truck packing and amplifier channel totals.

Main Hang and Subwoofer Layout Each main array used four AiRAY and six

CiRAY modules. Two SCP-F 18-inch subs per side stayed on the ground. The split held flown weight inside the roof load limits and still produced even low-frequency coverage across the wide plaza. Seven ground stacks of three AiRAY plus one SC2-F each covered the front zones outside the main hangs. This arrangement removed any need for delay towers and the extra labor and cable runs those towers would have required.

Fill Speakers and Onstage

Monitoring Four HOPS8T units covered the dais, two

HOPS8 units handled backstage, and two HOPS12 units supplied center fill. Eight N-RAY modules addressed side seating. Ten additional SCP-F subs were placed for uniform low-end response. Six CUE FOUR monitors completed the stage package. The point-source fills let the crew skip further line-array hangs where sight lines were tight. That choice cut rigging time and reduced the amplifier channels running through the temporary distro.

Amplifier Count and DSP Routing Twelve

LINUS14D four-channel amplifiers powered the full system.

All processing and speaker management lived inside the amplifiers, so no separate DSP racks were needed and the signal path from console to loudspeaker stayed short.

Delay and Coverage Verification Before doors,

the crew ran a series of FFT measurements from

the FOH mix position. Each flown array received a 0.8 ms delay offset relative to the nearest ground stack to keep the 80 Hz crossover phase-aligned. Subwoofer placement was then fine-tuned with a laser distance meter so the physical spacing matched the calculated delay, eliminating a measurable notch at 63 Hz that had appeared in the first sweep.

Network and Control Setup All LINUS14D units sat

on a dedicated Dante network with static

IP addresses assigned during load-in. A single laptop running CODA's LINUS Control software monitored temperature and load across the racks. The setup allowed the system tech to mute individual channels from FOH when a monitor wedge started feeding back during sound check.

Integrator Notes from the Event - Verify subwoofer placement against

the actual stage geometry before final trim; small shifts changed coverage more than expected on this site.

  • Keep one spare LINUS14D configured and tested; channel counts climb quickly once fills and monitors are added. - Document network addressing for the amplifier control before load-in; the parade schedule left little margin for addressing conflicts. The system ran through the mayor's address and Alicia Keys performance without coverage gaps or amplifier faults. Labor estimates for similar events should include an extra four hours for subwoofer repositioning and a final network checkout on show day. Those steps address the most common call-backs on temporary large-format events.
