WGBH is seeking an ambitious self-starter with close attention to detail to join the engineering team of this national show. The Audio Distribution Engineer will be responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely delivery and distribution of the daily show both for broadcast and digital consumption. We are looking for someone wanting to make a career in radio news and public affairs technical operations with a passion for the mission of public broadcasting. The right candidate will have the aptitude to grow in the job and it is anticipated that, once suitably experienced, s/he will take on other responsibilities such as studio recording and digital mixing.

The position will:

Ensure continuity of “rollovers” (refeeds of the daily program for different time zones) sent to the Content Depot NOC (Network Operations Center) in Washington, DC for transmission to subscribing stations.

Maintain the proper transmission of the program, and correct any impairments that may occur during the uplink.

Be responsible for editing the audio into segments and upload for digital distribution via pri.org , podcast, Soundcloud and other digital platforms that may arise.

Substitute for other World engineers (after training and assessment).

Skills Required

A minimum of one year experience in the operation of professional studio equipment such as Wheatstone Audio Console, ISDN, Shortcut 360.

Familiarity with audio-editing software such as Adobe Audition, Cubase, and SADiE.

Familiarity with Content Management Systems such as Drupal, WordPress.

Accuracy and attention to detail are essential.

Educational Requirements

Bachelor’s degree preferred.
