Blackmagic Design today announced a variety of new products at NAB, including a new family of ATEM Constellation HD switchers, 30 and 40 button models of the ATEM 2 M/E Advanced Panel, and a new high intensity light source for Cintel film scanners,
New family of ATEM Constellation HD live production switchers (available now; from $995): The new models are a 1 M/E model with 10 x 3G‑SDI inputs, 2 M/E model with 20 x 3G‑SDI inputs and a 4 M/E model with 40 x 3G‑SDI inputs. All models include full standards conversion on every SDI input, 4 ATEM advanced chroma keyers per M/E row, a DVE per M/E row, media players, larger media pool and much more. These new switchers are designed as a professional upgrade for ATEM Mini customers who need to expand, or for large broadcasters who want to upgrade their studios to get a modern switcher.
  • “We are excited to introduce these new live production switchers, as many high end broadcasters don’t need Ultra HD, but they still need to upgrade their studios,” said Grant Petty, Blackmagic Design CEO. “Plus a lot of our ATEM Mini customers have been growing and doing innovative work. They are now looking to upgrade and purchase more advanced switchers that can keep up with their work as their streaming channels grow. It’s a very exciting time!”
  • ATEM 1 M/E Constellation HD available now; $995
  • ATEM 2 M/E Constellation HD available now; $1,695
  • ATEM 4 M/E Constellation HD available now; $3,695
New 30 and 40 Button Models of the ATEM 2 M/E Advanced Panel (June; from $7,695): The new 30 and 40 button models of the ATEM 2 M/E Advanced Panel are large enough so the user has dedicated controls for the largest ATEM switchers, but are compact so they fit into any studio space. While including the same features as the ATEM 2 M/E Advanced Panel that has 20 input buttons, these new models are wider and have 30 and 40 input buttons. Both models still feature multiple LCDs for custom button labels, multiple separate system control LCDs, 2 t-bar fader controls and more.
  • “The new larger models of the ATEM 2 M/E Advanced Panel are exciting because they still give customers total control of the largest ATEM Constellation switchers, but they are not as deep as the ATEM 4 M/E Advanced Panel, so they don’t take up much space,” said Grant Petty, Blackmagic Design CEO. “With lots of custom LCDs for dynamic button labeling, customizable colors, and a massive number of controls, these new models take ATEM live production switchers to a whole new level. We think these new models will allow customers to build the most innovative television studios possible!”
New Cintel Scanner Light Source (technology demonstration at NAB 2022): A new high intensity light source for Cintel film scanners that lets customers get better quality from scanned film and much higher film scanning speeds.
  • The new light source technology is much higher power than the light source used on the previous generation of Cintel film scanners, and the new light source technology allows much faster HDR film scanning. There is also a new film inspection mode.
  • “We are excited to discuss this new technology with film customers at the NAB 2022 show,” said Grant Petty, Blackmagic Design CEO. “We plan on using this technology on a new model of Cintel film scanner and we are excited get customer feedback before committing to the new model’s release!”
