About the Job

We are hiring a Director/Editor at our NBC affiliate in West Palm beach, FL. This individual is responsible for directing station newscasts from the news automated control room with a minimal amount of errors. Additionally, this position will integrate visual content and audio material to create compelling stories, as well as complete daily editing projects for multiple platforms.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:
Directing
Assigned to daily newscasts as a director or technical director.
Works with show producers using newsroom computer system to create an integrated automated show rundown.
Directs control room crew for pre-production, studio shot planning and graphics integration.
Direct other shows, production shoots and special reports as assigned.
Assist with any studio setups including but not limited to lighting.
Editing
Capture visual content and edit long-form stories and daily newscasts as needed.
Work with producers, multi-media journalists and photojournalists to ensure a high quality product consistent with station’s brand.
Responsible for operating various news gathering equipment, including but not limited to video camera and video editing equipment.
Knowledge of and proficiency in posting content to the television station Web site.
Knowledge and demonstration of creativity, editorial judgment, journalistic ethics and libel laws.
Reacts to breaking news on an immediate basis.
Perform other duties as assigned.
