Electrical Engineer II- Surface Hub

Position: Electrical Engineer II- Surface Hub
Company: Microsoft
Location: Portland OR US

The recently introduced Microsoft Surface Hub will change team collaboration forever with a new product category of large screen, multi-touch computing devices.
By combining the no-compromise performance of our “all in one” touch/pen displays with the power of Windows 10, we offer an unprecedented user experience designed to unleash the power of the group. Join the Microsoft team in Wilsonville to drive development of next generation video electronics, power supply, sensing technologies, and computing platforms for the next generation of Surface Hubs.

As an Electrical Engineer within the HW development group, you will be responsible for the design and validation of analog and digital circuit subsystems for the large screen touch products. The candidate will work with the electrical engineering leads on defining and designing the circuit specifications, simulating the hardware design with CAD tools, and proposing the best design solution to meet performance, schedule and cost targets. You will work on the electrical design of subsystems that may include processors, high speed memory, state of the art audio/video interfaces, high speed serial communication, thermal management, analog circuitry and power delivery system.

The responsibilities of this position are focused on specifying, designing, implementing and verifying subsystems in the product electrical design. This includes owning the component selection, schematic capture, PCB layout, BOM, and cost analysis of the subsystem design. The development of the subsystem will start with requirements definition working with team members. You will then be responsible for evaluating the different solution options for functionality, cost and risk, followed by developing the solution, implementing, verifying, releasing to manufacturing and supporting it in production. Once the products are released, there will be product sustaining activity as well.

Desired World View

• The ideal candidate has unique talent and desire for finding clever, simple solutions to difficult problems. One who possesses a high level of intellectual curiosity with a growth mindset, and brings a high level of energy and passion to their work.

Minimum Requirements
