The Assistant Production Manager is a non-exempt, full-time staff position which assists management within the Dodge College of Film and Media Arts.

Responsibilities

The Assistant Production Manager coordinates pre-production and production workflow process for student projects with a specific focus on documentary and television productions. The incumbent ensures that Dodge College policies and proper safety procedures are followed for these projects. The position processes financial and insurance requests as needed. The Assistant Production Manager maintains constant communication and works closely with faculty and other production and technical staff to provide necessary support to student productions. They assist in the development and improvement of procedures and functions of Dodge College to improve student satisfaction. This position provides additional support to the Production Manager as needed.

Required Qualifications

Specific Job Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Film and TV or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience. Three to five years previous industry work experience in professional physical production atmosphere. Knowledge of current production standards with ability to breakdown scripts and analyze shooting schedules and budgets. Ability to prepare financial reports and reconcile expenses. Working knowledge of production film and video equipment.

General Job Requirements: Excellent oral communication and interpersonal skills to interact with diverse individuals, both inside and outside the university. Exceptionally detail oriented while maintaining high volume of work with quick turnaround. Strong writing skills for communicating with supervisors, faculty, staff and industry contacts. Superior organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple projects and adapt to constant interruption. Ability to use tact and to maintain a high level of confidentiality in both oral and written communications. Effectively collaborate with others in complex situations. Strong computer skills, including working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite applications, electronic mail, internet usage and database management.

Desired Qualifications

Experience in documentary and/or television production. Knowledge of industry standard software applications including EP/Movie Magic Software. Previous work at a higher education institution. Graduate degree in film or media arts.

Special Instructions to Applicants

The position is budgeted at $60,000 to $65,000, commensurate with experience. The offer of employment for the final candidate is contingent upon satisfactory completion of and outcomes of a criminal background screening, and upon the acceptance of and returning to the Office of Human Resources a signed original acceptance of the Chapman University Agreement to Arbitrate.
