6 Month Internship BMW NA – Interaction Design

BMW Group Technology Office USA in Mountain View, California is looking for a highly creative and passionate interaction design intern for their Experience Design Lab on its mission to create the best automotive experience yet. This position will focus on turning concept ideas into visualizations and animations. Using creative and technical talent to contribute to a variety of design challenges, including concept development, wireframes, documentation of specification, visual design and animation, rapid prototyping and asset generation. Secondary focus is scouting, evaluation and documentation of input/output technologies for human-machine interfaces.

Note: This is a full-time 6-month internship. Interested applicants should explore options with their faculty advisors / department to take time off from their studies prior to applying for the position.

Minimum Requirements:

Enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s program, or have graduated no more than 12 months prior to internship start date

Preferred Requirements:

Field of study: Interaction Design, Multi Media Design, Industrial Design, Visual Communication, Motion Media or Animation Design
Concentration: Analysis, conception and design of future interface and interaction models in the automotive context for best user experience
Strong expertise in interaction design, prototyping, visual design, wire framing
Knowledge of 3D software like Unity3D, Maya, Cinema 4D or CAD-software as well as coding (Processing, VVVV) and prototyping (Arduino, RaspberryPi) skills is strongly appreciated
Strong knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator),
Conscientious, responsible, ability to work independently and as a part of a multi-disciplinary team
Availability of 6 months
