Multimedia Journalist/Morning Show Anchor
Univision KUVS 19 Sacramento is looking for a dynamic and creative Multimedia Journalist to carry on the
brand promise by informing, educating, and empowering our Hispanic audience for our Morning Show. As a
Multimedia Journalist, you will cover news for Sacramento, CA, and surrounding areas. This position will be responsible for generating story ideas, investigating, writing, shooting, editing, and presenting accurate, balanced news stories andanchoring for the station’s morning newscast.
The Multimedia Journalist must present reports in a clear, concise, objective manner; as well as presenting
enterprising stories and special report ideas. Must be a team player with solid news judgment and must be a
“one-person band” to complete a story from beginning to end. Must be able to work independently with the
field equipment, write and edit their own story, and interact with the viewers through all of Univision media
platforms.
Job Responsibilities
• Produce, report, and edit assigned stories daily, gather information, conduct interviews, shoot and edit
video, perform in front and behind the camera.
• Generate content for newscasts through community contacts and social media channels.
• Research, interview, write, produce, and present news or weather-related reports for all the station’s
platforms.
• Establish a good working-relationship with newscast producers and co-anchors to ensure a well-paced,
accurate and informative broadcast.
• Maintain active and consistent presence across all platforms, including producing content for our
digital outlets.
• Work with News Director & EP, analyzing social media metrics to develop strategy to maximize posts
and engagement.
• Establish and preserve news contacts in the community.
• Promote and deliver positive work atmosphere by means of professional manners, mutual respect and
clear communication with supervisors, peers, employees, community representatives and audience.
• Participate in community related events organized by the station.
• Other duties as assigned.
Required Skills & Experience
• College degree in Digital Journalism, Journalism, Radio/Television, or related field from accredited University.
• Two to five years as multimedia/video journalist in TV, performing in front and behind the camera.
• Proven live interviewing /adlibbing skills and accuracy are a must.
• Strong personal computer skills and knowledge of computer-based video recording equipment and
editing principles.
• Fully bilingual – fluency in oral and written English and Spanish.
• Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proficient in newsroom computer systems and applications.
• Understanding of social media metrics.
Desired Skills & Experience
• Proven storytelling ability across all platforms in English and Spanish.
• Ability to translate and interpret between English and Spanish.
• Proven social strategy including track record of high post engagement and fan/follower growth.
• Functional to advanced knowledge in the use of field cameras, gear and editing systems.
• Well versed on local, national, and international news and current affairs.
• Knowledge of weather & traffic systems is a plus.
• Strong organization and motivational skills.
• Ability to perform well under pressure, manage breaking news situations, meet strict deadlines, and
respond quickly to changes.
• Flexible to work any assigned shift, including early mornings, overnights, evening, and weekends.
• Able to identify technical and conceptual problems and develop solutions.
• Strong journalistic standards and ethics.
• Valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
Physical Requirements
• Must be able to lift and carry broadcast video equipment.
• Must be able to drive a vehicle.
• Must possess vision and hearing acuity, clear and audible speech.
• Manual dexterity in use of keyboard, videotape machines, cameras, and broadcast equipment.
• Must be able to sit for long periods of time.
• Must be able to work in outdoor and inclement weather conditions.
Eligibility Requirements
• Must be willing to work from office in Sacramento, CA.
• Employment/education will be verified.
• Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
