Position: Director of Marketing and Communications

The Bishop Arts Theatre Center is looking to hire a skilled employee to develop and implement marketing communications plans that drive the demand for the organization’s performances and programs. The Director is responsible for the overall management of the agency’s communications department. Essential duties and responsibilities include:
- Direct the development and execution of marketing communications initiatives including ticket sales, playbill ads, student outreach programs, fundraising campaigns, social site presence, company website, public relations, internal communication, and regulatory communications.
- Establish, own and drive a strategic internal and external communications strategy that positively affects employees’ and customers’ understanding, engagement and commitment with the result of an even stronger connection to the company and leads to a return on investment.
- Ensure new communication campaigns and programs are aimed at reaching target markets.
- Manage brand delivery and consistency across all markets for all programs.
- Build and manage the agency communication’s budget.
- Must be proficient in graphics designers and copy writers to produce high quality publications and materials on time and within budget.
- Collaborate closely with Director of Education and Artistic Director.
- Be the driving force in the development of the work ethic, culture and values of the agency. Through personal example, establish the style and approach which meets overall organization values and expectations.
- Develop and maintain effective relationships with key reporters/editors media.
- Manage complex contract negotiation and work with legal counsel as required
Qualifications: Minimum
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, marketing or business related field
- Minimum of 2 years experience in marketing communications preferably in the arts
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Demonstrates creative and critical thinking skills
- Ability to work independently and get the job done
- Strong business analytics, relationship management, strategy development, project management, problem solving and change management skills.
- Professional and positive approach, self motivated, team player, dynamic, creative with the ability to work on own initiative.
- Excellent communicator with ability to influence and persuade across all levels of the organization
- Exercises a high degree of tact and diplomacy
- Demonstrates strong oral and written communication skills including the ability to clearly present recommendations and ideas to summarize complex issues.
- Business related computer skills including knowledge with Microsoft Office, Adobe Photoshop, iMovie or other video related programs
