The Global Services Group has an opening for a Mechanical Engineer in Reston VA.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The successful candidate will work as a member of a government contractor team conducting reverse engineering of underground structures with an emphasis on tunnels and bunkers. Additionally this position conducts Research & Development to mature and advance functional process modeling capabilities using the Underground Targeting and Analysis System (UTAS) modeling and simulation software, Stella and VentSim. Work will be performed in a fast-paced, high-energy environment inside a government facility.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Use imagery exploitation products, intelligence resources and engineering expertise to characterize selected underground facilities.
- Provide engineering guidance and judgment throughout the characterization process to produce accurate intelligence estimates.
- Work within a matrixed team to include imagery analysts, geologists and targeteers to construct Underground Targeting & Analysis System (UTAS)/ Integrated Munitions Effects Assessment (IMEA) 4-D models for weaponeering.
- Build Functional Process Models to dynamically visualize and communicate how complex systems of underground facilities (UGF) life support systems, utilities, and core mission functions interrelate in order to develop a robust new analysis capability to assist in Combatant Command campaign planning, exercise scenarios and facility defeat
- Brief senior officials regarding capability trends and analysis. Focus on intelligence analysis and processes to enhance an existing modeling capability
- Work closely with military end-users, engineers, physicists, and subject matter experts to identify and formulate requirements, develop models and test modeling software in an operational environment
Qualifications:
MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering with an emphasis on HVAC systems design with 10+ years related experience
- Proven capability of successful modeling physical and functional processes
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to successfully brief and interact with Senior Officers
- Currently possess and maintain an active TS/SCI security clearance
ADDITIONAL DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master’s degree, PE, or PhD in mathematics or a physical science
- Current CI Poly
- Proven capability of developing computerized physical models (engineering, physics, geotechnical, geophysical) of Underground Facilities (UGF) that are coupled in time and space with models of functions and processes that are part of the UGF system
- Prior active duty military experience or direct experience working with the military
- The ability to work with, and learn multiple M&S tools to include ArcGIS, Stella®, MATLAB®, VentSim, IMEA, AutoCAD and Simulink®
