Video Engineer

Position: Video Engineer
Company: University of Notre Dame
Location: Notre Dame IN US

This position is responsible for performing engineering activities and equipment maintenance for Notre Dame media events as well as coordinating fulfillment of all technical needs with broadcasters for live televised events from Notre Dame facilities. Responsibilities include supporting multi-media production in the following (non-exhaustive) ways:

  • Assist with set-up and operation of digital media facilities during periods of production
  • Assist with the set-up, operation and strike of remote productions
  • Assist others performing similar functions in a team environment
  • Install, configure and maintain an IP-based video technology infrastructure

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor of Science in Engineering related field and/or Broadcast Maintenance Engineering training.

The ideal candidate must possess the following skills and experiences:

  • Support and maintenance of television production equipment, computer networks and subsystems
  • Ability to make design recommendations and provide implementation of new technologies
  • Ability to rapidly diagnose video system and IT problems; provide alternative solutions if needed to maintain deadlines
  • Have full understanding of technical facility, and broadcast video/audio and IT-type production equipment and systems
  • Technical experience and exposure to broadcast television production equipment (SD & HD) including file-based video recorders, production switchers, routers, cameras, transmission and encoding equipment
  • Knowledge of design, documentation and integration of television and post-production systems

Knowledge of:

  • Adobe Creative Cloud
  • Xsan/StorNext: SAN storage system operation
  • Production applications such as Blackmagic, Telestream Pipeline, Vantage, CatDV
  • Maintaining knowledge of technology and industry trends

Preferred Qualifications

Field/Remote experience and/or mobile unit experience
