Position: Level Designer

Nerd Kingdom is developing an engine and platform for creation and collaboration that leverages ambitious technology, in order to empower everyone from early modders, to sophisticated engineers. We aren’t just creating tools, we are focusing on how data flows through that engine in order to help us and the community create better experiences, as players and creators.
We are looking for a Level Designer/Tech Artist who is comfortable scripting in C#, MEL scripting, or JAVA. This position will include working with in-house tools and within script files to edit and create biome layouts using a custom terrain engine utilizing procedural generation.
You can expect to work directly with the game designer in laying out biomes and worlds to support game features while providing visually striking environments. This will include progress reviews, updating art assets for the biomes, and assisting with integration of models into the engine from other artists on the team.
What do you need for this position?
Must Haves:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
Show a portfolio of work demonstrating strong proficiency in environmental art.
Professional experience working in current games.
Self-driven with strong communication skills.
Professional experience in Photoshop, Maya, Mudbox, Z-brush or equivalent.
Experience working in game engines such as Unreal or Unity.
Understanding of source control via Perforce or equivalent.
Nice To Haves:

- Experience in terrain generation tools such as World Creator or World Machine.
* - Experience in procedural game design a plus.
* - Knowledge in several different scripting languages.
* - Knowledge in SSAO or other rendering techniques.
* - Experience working in Bullet physics engines.
What will you be doing?

- Develop and manage the workflow for importing new and existing art assets into world generation.
* - Perform adjustments to biome and world generation after reviews and feedback provided from the game designer.
* - Work with the tools team to modify and adjust existing and new tool development pertaining to world generation.
* - Assist with the implementation of game features that may interact with world generation.
* - Work with the Art Director and Design Lead to establish the art vision for the game.
* - Work closely with the Senior Tech Artist in adhering to the art vision and technical requirements for implementing assets into the game.
* - Ensure that assets are optimized for performance and engine requirements for a procedural world.
* - Ability to assume new responsibilities should the need arise.
