Position: Support Engineer

The Localization Platform team uses a variety of technologies including Java, Ruby, Perl, most of the AWS stack, JavaScript, and many third-party and in-house Amazon technologies. We work in a fun, fast-paced environment that allows the opportunity to work on all aspects of an application (backend, service, front end).
We are seeking System Engineers or Support Engineers who enjoy solving problems, working with customers, and have backgrounds from a variety of different fields. If you have experience managing full application stacks from the system (Linux or Windows) up through a custom application, or web-related programming that includes the consumption of web services we’d like to talk with you!

- Field and manage technical customer issues via phone, chat and email
- Apply advanced troubleshooting techniques to provide unique solutions to our customers’ individual needs
- Leverage your day-to-day experiences to provide the voice of the customer to internal Amazon teams
- Drive customer communication during critical events
- Write tutorials, how-to videos, and other technical articles for our customer community
Basic Qualifications
•B.S. in Computer Science, Engineering or a related technical field
•3+ years overall development/technical support experience
•Experience in Perl or shell scripts
•Knowledge of the UNIX/Linux operating system
•Knowledge of Java based technologies
Preferred Qualifications
•Proven ability to troubleshoot and identify the root cause of issues.
•Demonstrated skill and passion for operational excellence.
•Experience in a 24/7 production environment is a plus.
•Ability to retain composure under stressful conditions, communicate effectively with a wide array of individuals at Amazon, and get the right things done.
•Prior experience with UNIX system administration is a plus.
