POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The Digital Media Manager is responsible for creating and maintaining content for the zoo’s digital platforms, including website, video, e-newsletters and other marketing efforts. This position will also help to develop and implement the zoo’s media strategy, working to create new audiences via media mediums.

POSITION DUTIES & ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Percentage

Responsible for creating digital strategies, as well as brand management of content, through video, photos, social media, web-based platforms and on-grounds promotions.

50%

Responsible for the management of the zoo’s website, including:

Creating and editing content.

Managing site functionality and analytics.

Serving as liaison to contractors and internal IT department.

40%

Developing media strategic plans to drive awareness, interest and attendance.

10%

• This position may at times be requested to perform other duties or special projects as assigned, which are in the best interest of the Kansas City Zoo.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION & FORMAL TRAINING:
Bachelor’s Degree in communication, journalism, digital/video marketing or related field required.

EXPERIENCE:
Minimum 3 years’ experience in digital marketing required.

Experience with video production, editing and production equipment required.

Experience managing websites and web-based content.

Experience with social media management and mobile marketing.

Strong computer skills, including knowledge of Microsoft Office, Adobe suite and other editing software required.

Strong verbal and written communication skills.

OTHER MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Must have valid driver’s license.

Must have or be able to obtain negative TB test.

Must be able to lift 50 pounds.

Must be willing to work a flexible schedule, including occasional weekend and evening hours, in all weather extremes.

May occasionally require travel outside of area.

Must pass a background and drug screening.
