Video Engineer 4

Job Summary:
Division Engineering role responsible for oversight of end-to-end core video delivery for six Western US Regions. Responsibilities include SME and project oversight of linear broadcast, video-on-demand, and cloud tv services for Cable and Internet delivery. Integrates knowledge of business and functional priorities. Acts as a key contributor in a complex and crucial environment. May lead teams or projects including operational support structures.

• Strong understanding of Engineering and financial acumen
• End to End cable delivery technology and infrastructure
• Cable HFC delivery
• Excellent communication skills with cross-organization interaction
• Strong history of Subject Matter expertise and individual-contributor leadership skills
• Technology Vendor management
• Operational environments, tools, facilities, and field experience in Cable Networks and Operations

Core Responsibilities:

• Provides technical leadership and directions as a primary technical resource on internet protocol router network technologies.
• Analyzes internet protocol network design and traffic flows for network optimization.
• Configures routing to efficiently distribute customer traffic.
• Analyzes traffic engineering data to forecast network capacity requirements.
• Follows Engineering design life cycle with proper documentation ensuring that all detailed designs adhere to network standards.
• Develops test and acceptance criteria for internet protocol networks. Provides technical support for internet protocol network problems.
• Provides technical training to technicians and other operations/engineering groups on current and future technology.
• Builds and maintains ongoing relationships with the regions and local markets.
• Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance.
• Regular, consistent and punctual attendance. Must be able to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) as necessary.
• Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Additional Requirements:

• Strong knowledge in audio and video compression (MPEG), multiplexing, delivery, and decoding
• Broad knowledge across IP video
• Juniper and Cisco Layer 3 routing networks
• Familiarity with large-scale Content Delivery Networks (CDN), TCP/IP Network delivery, and IPTV compression delivery
• Web video and streaming delivery

Job Specifications:
Education Level-Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent

Field of Study-Engineering, Computer Science

Years’ Experience-Generally requires 7-11 years related experience
