Associate Production Engineer

Associate Production Engineers have working knowledge of all content creator workflows used in the studio. They use this knowledge to help improve our content pipeline through testing and feedback and, if the need arises, build shipping content to help the team hit deadlines. If content creators are blocked from work, Associate Production Engineers step in and use their skills and knowledge to unblock them. They are also engineers and use their engineering know-how to create tools or scripts to help make developers’ lives easier.

Responsibilities

  • Test content pipelines and tools and offer feedback to ensure their quality before being handed off to content creators
  • Assist artists and designers in the setup of complex in-game assets and scripts
  • Act as an advocate for content creators when communicating with engineers
  • Provide support for content creators with tools troubleshooting, source control and software installation
  • Create and maintain documentation for proprietary tools and processes
  • Write simple tools and scripts (from batch files to C# applications) that improve productivity for content creator workflows
  • Assist designers with script, encounter, and AI debugging
  • Able to solve most common issues for any discipline within the studio

Required Skills

  • Software Testing/QA experience
  • Ability to communicate with both technical and non-technical users
  • Experience writing and debugging batch files, simple scripts, or object-oriented programming
  • Demonstrable coding expertise related to any of the following:
    • Application programming
    • Code and data optimization
    • Tool development
  • Familiarity with Digital Content Creation Applications such as 3D Studio Max, Maya, and Photoshop
  • Expertise using Windows command line interface and Microsoft Office products, especially Excel
  • General knowledge of source control software, especially Perforce
  • Nice-to-Have Skills

    • Experience working on a AAA game
    • Technical Art or Computer Science education or applicable work experience
