Title: Broadcast IT Engineer
Position Summary:
- Directly responsible to maintain >99.999 reliability of broadcast systems through diversity of systems and redundancy. Utilization of proactive monitoring tools to ensure quality of service.
- Responsible for management of Westwood One broadcast information systems network. Provides daily management of server hardware and software, Telco and Microwave data systems, IP network.
- Coordination with Westwood One Engineering and Vendors.
- Provide vision and strategy to streamline operations systems while striving to improve reliability.
- Coordination with Director of Network Operations of daily activities for Network Operations staff regarding BIT issues.
- Direct interfacing and cooperative efforts with Westwood One IT department for seamless integration of back-office and broadcast networks.
- Configuration and testing of various networking equipment for production rollout.
- Configure Cisco routers, switches, firewalls.
- Other Duties as assigned.Formal Education Required and/or Equivalent Experience:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering/Computer Science or equivalent experience.
- Four years of experience in network administration.
- Development capabilities, Bash, PHP, C++, Perl, Ruby
- Database administration knowledge, MySQL, MS-SQL, Postgresql.
- Computer audio including WAV, MP2, MP3, AAC.
- Broadcast experience, preferably radio or network radio.
- Self starter who can work with minimal supervision
- Solid analytical skills to solve medium to complex technical issues.Materials & Equipment Used & Frequency:
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5, 6, Ubuntu Server & Desktop, Windows Server 2000, 2003, 2008, 2012, XP, Windows 7, Active Directory, Microsoft SQL Server 2000-2003-2005-2008, Microsoft IIS, Apache.
- Routing/Switching: MPLS, BGP, OSPF, IP Multicast, VOIP, VLAN
- Internet Security: Firewalls, Intrusion Detection Services, NAT, Policy Routing, DMZ, VPN (IPSec, L2TP)
- LAN/WAN architectures including Ethernet, Spanning Tree, ISL and Point to Point Circuits.
- Understanding of routing protocols including BGP, OSPF, HSRP and network based ACL’s.
- Cisco ASA firewalls, Cisco Switches, Cisco IP Routers, Cisco VOIP, etc.
- Experience with L3PDU packet level network troubleshooting. Adtran Atlas DACS, Adtran T1/T3 CSU/DSUs, ISDN BRI and PRIs.
- Enterprise backup strategies including tape, off-side and disk backups to ensure data integrity.Training or Certifications Required:
- Cisco Certification Preferred. Excellent verbal and written communications skills required.
- Continuing education to maintain knowledge on the latest systems and technology.Work Environment/Physical Activities:
- Network Operations Center and Radio Control rooms.
- Regular and consistent attendance required; maintenance window work
- Rotating “on-call” status requiring availability both via cell phone and physical access to the network within one-hour.
- Must be able to lift 50lbs.
- Task Statements:
- Ability to assist others with technical anomalies and resolve issues.
- Capable of handling multiple emergency situations in scientific manner.
- Ability to troubleshooting advanced technical systems to the board/assembly level.
