Digital Production Specialist

-Creative, attentive to detail; ability to take direction and follow through
-Detail- and deadline-oriented across multiple projects simultaneously
-Strong quality and process control in eBook creation
-Experience with performing quality checks is preferred.
-Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
-Proven organization skills
-Coursework in Web Design, Graphic Design, Typography, Visual Communication a plus
-Immediate availability requested
-Knowledge of digital book formats such as .ePub (International Digital Publishing Forum Open eBook standard), .prc /.mobi (for Amazon), PDF (Adobe’s portable document format), etc.
-Knowledge of e-Reader applications and devices such Apple’s iPad, Amazon’s Kindle, Adobe Digital Editions, B&N’s Nook, VitalSource, Sony Tablet, etc.
-Knowledge of digital book creation software such as InDesign CS6’s export to ePub, KindleGen, iBooks Author, etc.
-Strong knowledge of html /xhtml structure and CSS coding.
-Must be technically savvy and proficient using the Macintosh OSX platform; advanced knowledge of InDesign CS6’s multimedia output capabilities, demonstrate proficiency in Adobe’s Photoshop CS6, Dreamweaver CS6, Text Wrangler.
-Must be adaptable to software that has frequent updates and upgrades.
-Produce all digital formats of books, including new formats as they are developed.
-Route and QC files before closing to Digital Content Assistant.
-Provide eBook error reports to eBook Production Coordinator for troubleshooting errors.
-Check eBooks from vendors for accuracy before project goes on to accounts.
-Flow in digital text from editorial, correctly format all internal elements; prepare pages for eBook creation and convert files accordingly.
-Thorough understanding of file types and their attributes (EPS, INDD, PSD, TIF, JPEG and so on).
-Ability to troubleshoot technical problems that may arise within InDesign and Dreamweaver.
