Government Programming Video Production Assistant

Valley Media Works is the Chippewa Valley’s only public access media center, providing local creative, educational, and government programming on Charter cable channels 993 and 994, WRFP 101.9 LPFM radio, and online. We are seeking friendly, community-minded individuals to join our production team. Government programming production assistants (PA) record local government meetings – from gavel to gavel – for live streaming and future playback. PAs may be responsible for recording Eau Claire County Board, Eau Claire City Council, Eau Claire Area School District Board, Eau Claire Plan Commission, Eau Claire Waterways and Parks Commission, Eau Claire Redevelopment Authority, or other meetings.

This position involves traveling between Valley Media Works and other locations to work off-site. A positive attitude, an interest in civic engagement, eagerness to learn, and excellent written and verbal communication skills are necessary for successful production assistants. PAs are required to attend weekly staff meetings in addition to other scheduled work. Paid on-the-job training is provided with opportunities to learn additional videography skills, theory, and equipment operation. This is a person-facing position; PAs will interact with the public and public officials. Due to the nature of government meetings, actual hours will vary, ranging from 1-12 hours per week.

Requirements:

• Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time
• Ability to sit, stand, bend, reach, lift
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
• Must be able to manipulate small buttons, switches, zippers, latches etc.
• A valid driver’s license and car
• Cell phone
• Previous experience in videography preferred
• Basic to intermediate computer skills

Availability: 2:30pm-11:00pm* on Mondays and Tuesdays; additional hours during the week may be offered on an as-needed basis.

*Please note that due to the variable nature of government meetings, you may be done earlier than 11:00pm or you may be required to stay later than 11:00pm. End times are uncertain and PAs are required to stay for the duration of the meeting.

This is a quarter-time, hourly position and is open immediately.

Hourly pay is $9.40 per hour.
