Job Overview

Your primary responsibility as a Design Engineer is to focus on product development in order to help new store openings. You are responsible for making sure stores open on time. You have the ability to come into a team and inspire them to push the company forward.


Duties

  • Create blueprints of product displays for new store concepts
  • Research end users of product and types of use for best functionality
  • Generate creative solutions; translates concepts and information into images; uses feedback to modify designs; applies design principles
  • Demonstrate attention to detail, accuracy and thoroughness
  • Evaluate product safety, appearance, and function to determine if a design is practical
  • Use specialized software to create models and drawings of products
  • Research new materials and methods of development
  • Organize and maintain existing engineering records
  • Construct prototypes and consult with the design/purchasing team for feedback and approval
  • Perform physical testing on engineering prototypes
  • Ensure components and assemblies adhere to applicable industry and business standards
  • Originate and/or review structural analyses, prototype test processes, operations procedures, and reports using computer-aided engineering (CAE) and appropriate computer software
  • Display original thinking and creativity
  • Meet challenges with resourcefulness
  • Look for ways to improve and promote quality and develop innovative approaches and ideas
  • Present ideas and information in a manner that gets others’ attention
  • Apply feedback to improve performance
  • Monitor own work to ensure quality
  • Review and verify design drawings and other technical documentation prepared by others to ensure correctness and accuracy in form, fit and function


Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree in Industrial Design, Mechanical Engineering or related field
  • 3+ years’ experience in mechanical design
  • In-depth knowledge of SolidWorks 3D CAD software
  • Proficient in Class A surface modeling software such as Fusion 360, Catia, NX, Alias, 3D studio Max
  • Extensive knowledge of metal fabrication processes
  • Understanding of current cutting tool technology
  • Impeccable attention to detail
  • Ability to plan, schedule, coordinate and problem solve effectively
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
  • Ability to build and maintain positive relationships
  • Ability to analyze problems and provide solutions

Health coverage, if applicable, will not begin until you have completed one full calendar month of employment. For example, if you begin working at the Company on May 1, 2017, your coverage could begin as early as June 1, 2017. Vacation and Sick Pay
(for full-time employees only): You may be entitled to a maximum of ten (10) days of vacation per calendar year (accruing on a pro rata basis), to be scheduled at the mutual convenience of the Company and you, and subject to the terms of the Company’s vacation policy, as in effect from time to time. Vacation pay will not begin accruing until you have completed your sixth full calendar month of full-time employment with the Company and worked a minimum of 960 hours (full-time basis). There is a cap on vacation accrual as explained in the Company’s vacation policy in the employee handbook. You will be entitled to paid sick leave in an amount consistent with applicable local, state, and federal law and as explained in the Company’s paid sick leave policy in the employee handbook.

Exempt employees will be entitled to paid Company holidays as scheduled by the Company in its sole discretion. Non-exempt employees may begin receiving paid Company holidays after twelve (12) full months of employment as scheduled by the Company in its sole discretion.
