The South Shore YMCA is currently accepting applications for college interns for the Fall, 2017 semester in the following positions:
- Marketing and Creative Services College Interns
- Graphic Design, Videography and post production skills and interests
- Nonprofit Fundraising and Events College Interns
- Nonprofit and/or Hospitality, Events, Arts and Design skills and interests
Departments Overseeing Interns: Development & Marketing (each intern will have a direct department mentor/manager assigned prior to hire)
We have multiple college internship spots open for the Fall, 2017 Semester. Working closely with both development and marketing professionals and mentors, interns will be focused on building their event planning, marketing, graphic design, videography, and post production knowledge and skills.
Description:
The South Shore Y’s largest annual community and fundraising event is “The Taste of the South Shore”, which takes place in April, 2018. Planning for this event starts in the Fall and includes :
- Participation in meetings around planning and execution of the event
- Brainstorming and executing on new ideas to reach past and new donors
- Using new media and different social media platforms for branding and event awareness purposes, to sell event tickets and procure gifts/donations that can be made through various mediums –in person, online or at the event.
- Meeting and working with vendors, partners, volunteers, and donors
- Creating marketing and pr materials (print, online, scripts and, photos , short videos and clips)
- Research and communication – reaching out to potential donors and business partners
- Begin relationship building, planning and any execution that can get started to set up for the event . (we can be flexible with the start and end dates and schedules to accommodate your class schedule and internship requirements)
Qualifications:
Interns with the following skills that are also looking to gain further experience in their field of interest, and to build a portfolio, professional network, and references, will be most successful in this position :
- Graphic designers, videographers, post production/editors (for short videos that will be used to promote the event and other programs across the company).
- We are also looking for interns that are enrolled in a hospitality related program / interested in hospitality, more specifically, event management and planning and/or event, art, and design.
This is a great opportunity to get hands on experience, working closely with experienced professionals and mentors in the Marketing and Development departments of one of the largest charities in the country while planning for a large scale fundraising and local community event. You will learn the systems, processes, and help to brainstorm / provide new ideas for the event as well as participate in the execution of marketing for the event. You will have the opportunity to engage with multiple vendors and reputable partners from the area as well as help to market (graphic design, video, create copy) and promote the SSYMCA organization and the event through various platforms.
