Software Engineer- Jr Level

Leidos is looking for a candidate that is excited to work side-by-side with some of the top research scientists in the nation. You will help translate scientific algorithms (developed in languages such as Matlab) into high quality software utilizing standard languages (such as C, C++, Java, and Python) and industry best practices. The software will be targeted for deployment on specific processors with limited resources, so you should be comfortable with some key concepts: scoping and sizing the algorithm space to include input test data and use cases, making simplifying assumptions in the algorithms, removing publishing code (such as graphs, etc.), targeting the algorithm to relevant computer processors and corresponding compiled or interpreted software languages, ensuring numeric accuracy, evaluating and optimizing run-time performance.

Qualifications:

Candidate must have a Bachelor’s or Master’s of Science degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related degree.

Experience developing, delivering, and maintaining production-level software (preferred)

Expertise with OO software design and implementation (preferred)

Experience with Matlab, C++, Java (preferred)

Experience debugging scientific software applications (preferred)

Comfortable solving complex problems

Ability to work in intensive and changing environment

Self-motivating, excellent written and verbal communication skills and good interpersonal skills

Must have a US Citizenship and be eligible for a DoD security clearance.
