Overview:
Communication Design is the internal creative agency setting brand and visual direction for Slack. The mission of the team is to create beautiful designs, communications, on-site graphics, photography, video, style guides, and user experiences. As the Studio Manager on the Program Management team, you will be supporting the Communication Design team at Slack and working closely with cross-functional teams across the organization, including marketing, editorial, events, product design, and customer experience. This role will include hands-on management of the workflows and capacities of designers and writers on the team, contributing to workflow and process optimization, development of efficient and repeatable systems, reducing internal costs and improving and implementing new production processes. The Studio Manager should have deep experience in managing the work of creative teams, and driving a high volume of deliverables with regular daily milestones. The successful candidate will have a creative background, strong project management skills and corporate experience.

Responsibilities:
Manage studio projects and balance the needs of the business with Comms Design priorities by developing schedules, managing project scope, coordinating and allocating resources, facilitating stakeholder reviews and ensuring delivery against quality and value expectations, as well as business objectives and needs.

Manage and grow relationships with current roster of freelance and contract team members, as well as creative agencies and vendors.

Manage the team’s short- and long-term timelines to ensure proper resources are available to meet all deadlines.

Support daily/weekly status meetings with design team to prioritize and communicate daily/weekly objectives

Assess cross-functional capability and availability to assign work based on scope, talent and budget considerations.

Contribute to key program management initiatives such as planning and scheduling day-to-day, ensuring teams are appropriately staffed, projects are appropriately assigned and resources are available to meet performance, quality, budget and timeline goals.

Review weekly/monthly/quarterly volume and quality reporting (actual vs. forecast)

Collaborate with global peers to help drive process standardization and continuous improvement

Ensure policies, procedures and best practices are documented and maintained

Balance team expectations, business needs, and resources to ensure correct prioritization of cross-functional work as a project evolves through developing an effective and scalable intake process for project requests.

Establish world-class workflows and continuously test and measure improvements with regards to process.

Requirements:
Minimum of 4 years experience as a project manager/producer in a consumer-facing software or creative development/agency environment.

Strong timeline and resource negotiation skills.

Proven experience successfully delivering results in a creative, video and/or photo producer capacity

Familiarity with creative process and an understanding of branding and user- centered product and communication design. Enjoys working closely with researchers, writers, designers, and other creative people.

Experience working with project management tools such as Smartsheet, JIRA, Asana, Trello, Microsoft Project, Omniplan, etc

BA/BS is required.
