Position Summary:

The Campus Events unit is a production service center and campus wide resources for event management. This unit provides services to the institution and community ranging from small rental orders, to full executive level production. This position will have responsibilities related to the technical production of approximately 150 events per year including the Lionel Hampton Jazz Festival, Commencement, New Student Orientation, UIdaho Bound, all athletic events, and other special events. This position will supervise the technical production within the Campus Events unit to ensure cohesive and effective event planning, staffing, and execution. Other focuses for this position will be on understanding and maintaining technical equipment inventories; scheduling and supervising large work crews; working with customers to meet their expectations; and familiarizing with the technical infrastructure University Support Services venues: ASUI -Kibbie Activity Center, Memorial Gym, and UI Swim Center.

Minimum Qualifications:

• A Bachelor’s degree in theater, music, radio-television, digital technology or other related area, or equivalent experience.
• At least 4 years of full-time professional experience working in event production
• Demonstrated ability to implement and maintain an effective “team member” working relationship with supervisors, co-workers and clients
• Ability to communicate effectively
• Ability to read and follow written and oral instructions
• Ability to work independently
• Valid driver’s license

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience managing a team and budgeting
• Other preferred qualifications include any combination of experience, training and education demonstrating a wide variety of competence in the management or operation of contemporary event production services
• Skills in communicating effectively
• Demonstrated ability to plan and assign work according to the nature of the job to be accomplished, the capabilities of subordinates and available resources
• Experience determining employee’s training needs and providing or arranging for such training

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions:

• Stand and squat on catwalks and beams 70+ feet above floor level
• Ability to lift, carry, or otherwise move up to 50 pounds.
• Work on ladders
• Perform rigging
• Read and interpret blueprints
• Work in enclosed spaces and dusty environments
• Work extended hours with variable schedules including evening, nights, weekends and holidays to meet production deadlines
• Ability to meet the University of Idaho driving requirements.
