Video Engineer

Legendary Digital Networks is seeking a Video Engineer. As a Video Engineer, you will be joining a team that is shaping the future of LDN’s video presence to the world. You must excel in large volume video delivery techniques for live and on-demand video streaming environments. The role will require a strong collaborator on improvements and architectures in areas such as supporting our live video infrastructure, provisioning live feeds, deploying new VOD workflows, monitoring environments, escalating and resolving issues. He or she will be helping specify video requirements and project managing deployments. The ideal Video Engineer is half geek with engineering experience in live streaming and post-production, and half computer nerd with practical experience in application development in the cloud.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support and maintain all daily live streaming programs and VoD infrastructure.

• Perform analysis, diagnosis and resolution of video encoding/transcoding hardware/software issues and implement corrective solutions for live and VoD systems.

• Help architect and implement video production workflows where necessary to optimize and/or meet business requirements.

• Investigating new technologies around video and audio compression

• Troubleshoot problem streams (including HLS, VC-1, H.264, H.265/HEVC, and VP9 bitstreams, and ORM encryption).

• Build and scale our current infrastructure as well as designing and delivering new tools supporting our video business.

• Day to day Engineering and Administration of large scale distributed systems.

• You will guide the organization and implement best practices to deliver on operational improvements.

• Configure, develop, test and implement appropriate codec settings for live video and on demand streaming.

• Consult and help implement new video services and/or products in furthering the evolution of the streaming ecosystem with a focus on scalability and high availability

• Conduct daily inspections of video streaming infrastructure

• Providing company-wide, video-centric trans-coding and processing support through RESTful web services.

Qualifications:

• BA/BS in Computer Science or other technical degree and/or related experience

• 4+ years of hands-on experience with video encoding hardware and software

• Experience running live internet-distributed broadcasts with sizable audiences

• Ability to design and implement scalable and highly available systems.

• Proven video streaming and media workflow experience and in-depth knowledge, and understanding of all streaming technologies.

• Strong knowledge of Encoding Standards (H.264, AAC, GOP structure, 1-P-B-frame schemes, profiles, bit-rates, aspect ratios)

• Strong knowledge of video content management systems, video player development and securitization of video.

• Knowledge of streaming providers and vendors: CDN’s, OVP’s, encoding hardware * Deep understanding of the entire live streaming architecture from source to playback * Prior experience with Unix or Unix like environments.

• Well-rounded technologists with experience automating with AWS tools.
