This team focuses on research studies in personality disorders and specifically borderline personality disorder, with an emphasis on factors that influence the development of personality disorders during childhood and adolescence. The Pittsburgh Girls Study and associated studies and research programs are also housed in our research suite. The research specialist will assist in running a new research protocol named “Preschooler emotion regulation in the context of maternal borderline personality disorder,” which is examining the effect of treating maternal borderline personality disorder on emotion regulation in their preschool child. Mother and child will be assessed before, during, and after a 52 week course of Dialetical Behavior Therapy skills training. Assessments will include both individual assessments and dyadic assessments, including semi-structured psychological interviews, physiological data collection during parent-child interaction tasks, and running preschooler assessment tasks. The research specialist will also help enter, manage, track, and analyze data, as well as recruit and schedule participants.

This position is grant funded.

Independently execute job functions for research protocol(s) including recruitment, scheduling appointments, obtaining written consent forms, collecting data by conducting phone or face to face interviews for research project(s).

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have an interest in psychological research and personality disorders; be comfortable working with both preschoolers and adults and be able to engage participants and make them feel welcome and at ease; be attentive to detail and protocol, yet creative in solving problems; work well as a team since each assessment involves the coordination of several staff members working together. The ideal candidate is somebody who has finished undergraduate studies and is looking for a few years of research experience before applying to graduate school.

Bachelors degree required, preferably in psychology, neuroscience, sociology or related research field.

Minimum of one year of work experience in a research project and/or related clinical setting is required.

Familiarity with comptuers and common software packages required.

Working knowledge of research methodology strongly preferred.Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances: CCM training is required within 30 days of hire and annually thereafter
