The New Museum seeks a Designer and Production Manager to design outstanding New Museum collateral (online and print) for all departments. The Designer and Production Manager will play a key role in showcasing the brand and continue to build upon a system of house templates to provide effective and elegant solutions and see them through the production process for the New Museum’s visual communications. The position reports to the Marketing Director and Director of External Affairs.
RESPONSIBILITIES
– Design, deliver final production files and manage printing for New Museum collateral to include (and not limited to): membership materials, exhibition and institutional brochures, invitations, calendars, NM Paper, marketing and press materials, educational materials, New Museum Store materials, environmental and exhibition signage.
– Design e-newsletters, e-vites, e-blasts and manage email delivery system
– Spec out printed projects and manage process to get best quotes and efficiencies from printers and vendors.
– Serve as liaison between New Museum printers and fulfillment houses
– Work closely with Marketing Director to produce and maintain realistic schedules and timelines for collateral material to be delivered on time and on budget
– Maintain the design approval process and sign-off procedure.
– Develop lo-tech, in-house methods for last-minute and or -no-budget- projects
– Maintain digital library of all printed collateral as original files and pdfs.
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum 2-3 years of graphic design experience and producing printed collateral and online design solutions, with strong preference for knowledge of the contemporary art world. Candidates who have designed in a contemporary art museum environment will be given
preference.
Candidate must have a BA in graphic design or related field; excellent portfolio, a keen eye for typography and outstanding organizational skills; superior time-management and ability to keep projects on deadlines.

Salary commensurate with experience.
