Solutions Project Engineer

As part of the Grass Valley team, strategic leader in broadcast market solutions, the candidate will contribute to the successful implementation of Solutions projects for Grass Valley’s customers in the Americas, through provision of technical engineering expertise to ensure the delivered product is in compliance to the technical requirements. As part of his mandate, the candidate will mainly develop customs monitoring and control solutions (Grass Valley iControl Solutions) using core JavaScript and perform onsite commissioning of such solutions. The candidate will have unique opportunities to interact with Grass Valley’s wide variety of product lines and to travel to state of the art broadcast facilities and work in a constantly evolving & challenging market. This position can be based in Denver, Colorado; Hillsboro, Portland; Grass Valley, California (USA) and Montreal, Quebec (CANADA) Grass valley offices. Requirements

• Bachelor of Computer Engineering or Computer Sciences
• 3-5 years strong object oriented programming experience using core JavaScript, Java or C/C++
• Strong knowledge of IP communication standards, especially multicast and streaming applications
• Experience with integration and deployment of large distributed systems
• Experience with CentOS & Windows operating systems
• Experience in developing solutions using a software development life cycle
• Experience with SNMP, XML protocols
• Experience with video and audio streaming protocols
• Experience with video and audio broadcast equipment
• Experience with Relational Databases
• Experience using VM Ware
• Experience with Cisco Switches (Cisco Certification) considered an asset
• Knowledge of video standards considered an asset
• Knowledge of TV broadcast equipment (Automation, switchers, routers, etc.) considered an asset
• Excellent English communication skills
• Proven track record of successfully working in team environment which develops hardware and software systems
• Ability to travel 40% of the time

Responsibilities

• Participate in reviewing customer requirements (SOW, design documentation, functional specs)
• Ensuring that components are developed, integrated, tested and deployed as specified
• Develop customs Solutions as per customer specifications using core JavaScript
• Assist in the in-house testing of the Solutions
• Liaise with R&D/Technical Support groups in the identification and rectification of defects
• Deployment of Solutions at customer premises
• Document the as installed system deployment
