Position Description

The Broadcast Maintenance Engineer provides technical support to WUNC in all office locations. This position helps maintain IT systems, works on IT projects, and helps resolve problem requests. Additionally, this position provides maintenance for WUNC’s studios, equipment, automation, AoIP and digital audio library systems. This position maintains the AoIP (Wheatstone) network and performs daily/monthly maintenance tasks to keep the facilities running smoothly with minimal interruption.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Associate’s degree in electronics and three years of progressive experience in a broadcast television, radio and emerging media engineering environment; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

Essential Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

Essential skills and abilities include knowledge of studio equipment, recording equipment, and ISDNs. Additionally, the candidate must have knowledge of Windows OS installation, troubleshooting experience, and knowledge of networking and TCP /IP setups for computers and printers. The candidate must also have strong customer service and communications skills.

Preferred Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of three years of broadcast engineering experience. Additionally, the candidate will have IT experience, including server maintenance, virtual environments, and audio software environments. Great organizational skills and the ability to prioritize projects preferred. Additionally, experience with AoIP (Wheatstone), a working knowledge of PRSS , Content Depot, and radio Automation systems ( ENCO ) is preferred. Experience with setting up remote broadcasts is a plus.

Required Licenses/Certifications

Special Physical and Mental Requirements

The capacity to lift equipment up to 50lbs, reaching overhead, bending and twisting.
