Affiliate Distribution Support Engineer

Position Summary:
This position will be responsible for managing the day to day technical support of Discovery Latin America Distribution and Affiliate Sales Operations teams. Support Discovery’s Global distribution initiatives including large scale MPEG-4 conversions, inventory analysis, and Distribution metrics tracking.
Responsibilities:
1. Provide technical support to the Affiliate sales team for affiliate decoder issues and configurations.
2. Provide support by investigating service issues reported and communicate to Engineering relevant issues related to Distribution.
3. Track technical calls to provide analysis on troubleshooting and failure trends.
4. Oversee and manage all aspects of Affiliate reception, including but not limited to:
a. Providing training and support to Affiliate Sales personnel.
b. Working with affiliates that have technical issues and troubleshoot to success.
c. Oversee and manage decoder lab. Develop best practices.
d. Decoder product management, software upgrades, and proper product replacement.
e. Manage large scale MPEG-2 to MPEG-4 conversion projects from conception to completion. This will include communication to internal teams, coordinating communications to Affiliates; manage timelines, and provide setup procedures for decoders.
f. Maintain up-to-date technical information on regional distribution and decoders for affiliates and the Affiliate sales teams.
g. Develop database with Affiliate technical information such as antenna size, distribution technology, STB’s, and relevant receive margins.
h. Provide the Affiliate Sales team necessary technical input for affiliate agreements.
5. Provide analysis on availability trends for Discovery’s Global distribution.
6. Research and provide alternative distribution options to support business needs.
7. Provide input on equipment and procedures pertaining to the decoder lab to enhance its capability.
8. Develop best practices for decoder uses as it pertains to each global regions usage.
9. Effectively communicate any changes to Cisco products such as software updates, end of life notices, or new products.
Requirements:
* 5 years of related experience is satellite distribution, or head end management.
* Experienced with Cisco analog and digital decoder products.
* Experienced with virtual channel construction and transport stream elements.
* Strong understanding of Analog and Digital head end infrastructure.
* Highly motivated and customer focused with a proactive approach and ability to manage multiple priorities while complying with deadlines.
* Proven managerial and organizational skills.
* Excellent problem solver with good writing and verbal communication skills; ability to frame complex issues, articulate findings and recommend solutions.
* Ability to read and analyze contractual legal terms and conditions. Provide recommendations.
* Ability to simplify and communicate technical concepts.
* Proficiency in Windows, Office
