Shenandoah Conservatory of Shenandoah University is seeking an experienced production manager for its concert hall facilities to begin immediately.
Primary responsibilities in this full-time, benefited position include but are not limited to managing the day-to-day operations of Armstrong Concert Hall and Goodson Recital Hall/Chapel for the Conservatory’s use, maintaining a smooth operating system for general University use of Conservatory music performance spaces and scheduling all events in those performance venues with campus and off-campus groups; working with Division chairs, Ensemble Directors, and Managing Director in maintaining an accessible master calendar and resolving scheduling conflicts as needed; cataloguing and ensuring the security of the Conservatory’s musical inventory (instruments, stands, etc); building on input from the Lead Piano Technician, ensuring the safety and security of the two Steinway Hamburg concert instruments and the Conservatory’s general Steinway instruments; and supporting the Conservatory’s strong partnership with the Bright Box venue in downtown Winchester, VA.
Qualifications:
To be considered, candidates must possess a background in production management, concert management, and/or arts facilities management. The possession of 3 or more years’ experience within an academic setting is strongly preferred. Strong candidates will additionally possess team-building and financial management skills, the ability to manage multiple projects, and the ability to anticipate the needs of multiple constituents. The work is often highly sensitive and requires diplomacy and tact, professionalism, patience and commitment. Experience with space scheduling coordination is preferred. This position requires a self-starter whose aesthetic is in concert with the Conservatory and who has a gift for communicating across departmental and artistic lines. A Bachelor’s degree in an area of the arts is expected. Must occasionally be able to move and lift heavy loads of up to 60 pounds. Extensive travel between campus buildings and travel on and off campus will be required. A valid driver’s license with clean driving record is expected.
The successful candidate will be a highly organized professional with facilities and operations management experience who is excited to join a premier performing arts community. This position involves excellent written and verbal communication skills and a demonstrated ability to contribute to the collegial and highly professional operations of an intensive Conservatory.
