Position: Maintenance Engineer

KTVU is seeking a Maintenance Engineer to conduct
repairs and preventative maintenance of broadcast equipment–both IT/server-based and video-based. Works under the direction of Engineering management to research, obtain, and implement equipment, test devices, and perform maintenance/operating procedures.
Repairs and maintains broadcast systems, including systems that are computer-based.
Shares information and knowledge of this specialty area with other staff members, by adhering to the documentation requirements at KTVU, which include creating rack elevation views, block diagrams and detailed schematic and by training co-workers on new systems that you design and/or install.
Other duties assigned as deemed appropriate and necessary.
Qualifications
Associate’s degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; and at least four years related experience in TV station maintenance, including digital; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Particular emphasis will be placed on experience with software applications, operating systems and general-purpose troubleshooting in a network environment.
Experience with layers 1, 2 and 3 network switches is considered a plus.
SBE certifications desirable.
Membership in IBEW union required.
A+ and other computer based certifications are highly desirable.
Must have the ability to work with end-users of software-based systems in order to solve issues in large network-based systems is an important skill that is required.
The ability to understand network-based communications links between corporate locations in other cities and the systems at KTVU will be required.
